Üstra Bus Stop

1992

A bus stop made of stainless steel and glass.

Timeline

In 1992 a project, conceived by Peter Ruthenberg and Üstra, the Hanover Transport Authority, asked a number of architects and designers to work on individual bus stop shelters in specific sites around Hanover. The project was realised with the help of Kai-Michael Koch, a Hanover-based architect, who managed the construction detailing and co-ordinated the manufacture of the bus shelter. At the press opening, buses taking journalists around the various sites would stop and everyone would get off to admire each creation. When it came to mine, Andreas Brandolini overheard a journalist sitting behind us saying to her colleague, ‘this one looks too normal, let’s stay on the bus’.
